2010: My Year in Review

At the beginning of 2010 I tried to write up highlights of the past 10 years. This was a bit ambitious. I don’t think I finished the whole decade. With that in mind, I’m doing the past year. With all that’s happened in the second half of the year, I found myself struggling to remember how it began so I’m going back and looking at old posts for this year to help me remember.

• My newest little cousin Zachary was born December 31, 2009. On the first day of 2010, I visited him.
• Also, the Tenth Doctor regenerated.
• Titanic’s #1 Grossing status was overtaken by Avatar. It’s at this point that I realize the movie Avatar is not the anime cartoon. I don’t find out until later that it’s just bad for it’s own reasons.
• The iPad was announced.
• In February our printer died and Epson sent a replacement. It was really easy and no problems since. Officially my favorite printer ever(Epson Artisan 800).

• February 18 – we released our second game, Word Monkey, for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.
• In March we had a Star Wars movie marathon, chronological order.
• March 26, I got my new computer. My first prebuilt system since… well ever, unless you count laptops. I’ve always built my own desktop computers before this.
• 11:00am on April 3, our iPad came via UPS
• On Easter Sunday, April 4, we had a long rolling earthquake. I tweeted that it was to remind us of the stone that was rolled away.
• I baked lots of bread and rolls for almost every holiday.
• Legend of the Seeker was canceled 
• Mother’s Day was May 9 and it was my first “successful” mother’s day, I felt. I made a big quiche and homemade croutons which my mom loved. My sisters brought the salad and other stuff, so my mom didn’t end up doing anything. Gramma said it was the best quiche she’d ever had. Little did I know that it would be my last Mother’s Day as a non-mother!
• Made pink bread for my cousin Chloe’s 2nd birthday, called it fairy princess bread.
• We had the series finale of Lost.
• May 29, my younger sister Holly graduated from college at Biola University. The king of Swaziland was there. My grandparents got to watch the live stream at home on the big TV, thanks to my wonderful husband.
• Made pretzel rolls, pesto, graham crackers, pizza on the grill, and almond butter for the first time.
• Jun 6th, my 27th birthday. We had wonderful fresh berries, and my cousin Zachary(5 months old at the time), played birthday fairy. It was very cute.
• The week after my birthday I went on a road trip with my best friend to visit her mom in Oregon. It was my first time being away from Jerrod since we got married.
• June 17th, Jerrod and I went to E3.
• July 1, Word Monkey was Free Game of the Day.
• July 4, my aunt Tana and my cousins arrive for their visit.
• July 18, we took a family picture with all of my mom’s family. We have lunch at In N Out and my aunt’s family leave that day.
• July 20, I found out I was pregnant.
• July 26, The original Star Tours ride closes at Disneyland. When it reopens it will be totally different.
• August 4, Papa had a blood transfusion and came home late that night.
• August 5, Papa was home and we all tried to help him recover. Gramma was very worried. We took him back to the hospital late that night.
• August 6, 1:24am We found that Papa had blood on his brain. By the afternoon he was not responsive and in a coma.
• August 7, Everyone visits Papa at the hospital. My aunt Tana arrives. Every day he was in the coma we prayed around him and sang hymns of praise.
• August 10, Papa went home to be with the Lord.
• August 15, we had a Celebration of Life service for Papa at our church. There were so many people there! I sang a duet of Fathers Eyes with my mother and also made the program and slide show. full video
• August 30, Saw Inception with my dad.
• September 1, watched the Apple announcement live streaming on our iPad. New iPod touch and iPod nano were announced.
• September 1, We got our first look at the baby.
• September 5, We told my family that we are expecting our first baby.
• September 8, I had my first doctor’s appointment for the baby.
• September 12-14, We went on an anniversary trip to Santa Barbara. [pictures]
• October 7, I had my 18 week ultrasound and we found out that we’re having a girl! She will be called Guinevere Katherine.
• October 14-16, My great uncle Ernie and aunt Bonnie visit.
• November 15, Doctor says Guinevere is a smaller baby, which is good since I’m a smaller person.
• November 20, Saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.
• November 26, Thanksgiving was great. Jerrod and I helped Gramma with the turkey, my rolls came out really nicely, and I made the mashed potatoes for the first time.
• December 14, My last MOPS teaching Song & Snack.
• December 15-20, Tana visits as my mom’s 50th birthday present.
• December 31, My cousin Zachary’s first birthday. We had a party at Chuck E. Cheese for him. Watched Toy Story 3 with Gramma.
